Medicine M.B.B.CH degree 

System Of Study

A total of 254 credit hours is needed for the M.B.B.CH degree. Study in the College of Medicine requires 6 years of rigorous study progressing through three distinct stages as follows:

Stage I : Basic Medical Sciences:

This includes the first two years (four regular semesters).

In these semesters, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and histology are studied. It is not allowed for the students to proceed to the second stage unless they have passed all the medical sciences of the 1st stage.

Stage II: Pre-clinical :

Which includes the 3rd year (Semesters 5 & 6).

In these semesters, pathology, pharmacology, parasitology and microbiology (bacteriology) are studied.

These two stages are considered as the academic study in the College of Medicine.

It is not allowed for the students to proceed to the 3rd stage unless they have passed all the medical science of the medical sciences of the 2nd stage .

Stage III : Clinical Study :

Which includes the 4th, 5th and 6th years (semesters 7 - 12).

This 3rd stage is considered as the clinical study in the Collage of Medicine. In this stage the following subjects are studied :

General & Special Medicine, General & Special Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose & Throat, Community Medicine and Medical Statistics and Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.

 

Teaching Hospital

Misr University for Science & Technology opened its internal wards in an official ceremony on Wednesday April 26, 2000. The hospital ranks among the most advanced medical facilities in Egypt. In addition, the hospital staff is of renowned medical staff that provides services in all branches of medicine. A nursing staff of the highest caliber supports the medical faculty—all this under the supervision of a highly qualified management team.

Enhancing the medical services given to the public, the hospital has a capacity of 140 beds, distributed into different room categories. There are four operating theatres, highly equipped with the latest medical instruments. These are supported by ten beds in ICUs and CCUs. 

In addition, the hospital has a large gynecology & obstetrics unit, which includes maternal operating theatre wards & incubators. The neonatal unit is also equipped with incubators & supervised by the hospital highly qualified nursing staff. To complement the medical services, it was necessary to provide eleven outpatient clinics covering all branches of medicine & fully equipped with the latest equipment.

The hospital diagnostic department is supplied with many instruments from plain X-ray to Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. Also, there are the laboratories for biochemical, hormonal, pathological, bacteriological, immunological studies, in addition to an obesity clinic. There is also a 24-hour emergency ward, supported by a fully equipped ambulance and highly qualified medical staff.  

The hospital has established two external clinics near the suburban area to provide direct medical services, to contribute to reusing the service in the community around the University.

We must not forget the effort of the University in providing the hospital with the labs and academic research centers, for the study of immunization and genetic engineering, which is considered the future in medical research. Now, the role of MUST has become evidently important especially in providing services to the different medical departments of the University like medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, physiotherapy, in addition to technical institutes that are planned for in the future.

Admission Procedure

Application for Admission

Admission application fees are LE 150 (one hundred and fifty Egyptian pounds), non-refundable, and must be submitted with all the necessary documents and official papers in their original forms.

 

Documents and Credentials Required

A. Freshman Students

Completed Application for Admission Form.

Official certificate of General Secondary Education (certified and authenticated as required).

Birth certificate.

6 personal photographs (passport size).

Form "2 GOND" (for male Egyptian Students, can be obtained from the post office).

Military card for male Egyptians above nineteen years of age. For those above twenty-two an official document stating the military status should be submitted.

Copy of ID card or passport (for non-Egyptian students)

B. Transfer Students

Applicants transferring from other educational institutions must submit all documents listed above in addition to the following documents :

An official transcript from the applicant's former college detailing the curriculum and the official grades obtained. Foreign transcripts must be certified by the issuing institution and authenticated by an Egyptian Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin.

A detailed description of all the courses studied, certified by the issuing institution (authenticated from the Egyptian Embassy for foreign students).

The number of credits to be transferred must not exceed 50% of the graduation requirements at MUST.

General Admission Rules

 

All applicants, irrespective of the type of secondary school certificate they hold, should have completed a minimum of eleven years of regular schooling prior to admission to the university, and passed all subjects qualifying for admission into the various colleges as set forth by the Supreme Council of Universities.

The minimum acceptable score for admission into the various colleges is announced at the beginning of each academic year.

All applicants should submit original certificates, diplomas, transcripts and documents.

Holders of certificates or diplomas from other countries should have their certificates and diplomas authenticated by the educational authorities issuing them and the Egyptian embassies in these countries.

Holders of American High School Diploma and secondary school certificates from Russia and East European countries must have their diplomas and certificate authenticated by the Egyptian cultural attaché in each country.

Admitting Certificates

Equivalent Certificates :

A. Certificates from Arab Countries (Scientific and literary branches):

The following subjects are not included in calculating the general grand total : Islamic studies, physical education, military education, conduct and attarbiya al wataniya.

B. Foreign Certificates :

1.  The British GCSE and IGCSE :

Students applying for admission should meet the following requirements:

A Minimum grade of C in eight O-level subjects (extended) taken in no more than 5 sittings in the last three years prior to admission.

Only one subject taken at two different levels (O, AS or A) can be counted.

Arabic as a first language can be counted.

Grades of  "A" to “ E “ are accepted at the AS and A levels.

Only one subject taken at two different levels (O and AS or A) can be counted as two subjects.

If one subject is taken at the AS and A levels only the highest score is counted.

2.  The American High School Diploma :

Holders of accredited American high school diploma should meet the following requirements :

Eight one – credit subjects taken as follows :

4 subjects minimum at grade 12.

2 subjects at grade 11.

2 subjects maximum at grade 10.

SAT-1 score as determined by the Supreme Council of Universities each year.

Students, who got their high school diplomas from the Arab Republic of Egypt, must have their certificates authenticated from the issuing US institution any international accreditation authority. Certificates authenticated from any institution or authorities that are not listed in the ministerial decree thereto will not be accepted. In addition, they must be authenticated by the Egyptian Cultural Attaché in Washington.

Arabic, studied in the American High School diploma at the level of the Arabic course studied in the international baccalaureate diploma, under the title the International Diploma Language B), is counted in the eight required courses.

Admission Procedure

Students seeking admission to the university must fill in an Application Form, which can be obtained at the Information Desk.

Completed application forms should be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Registration.

The Office of Admissions carefully and promptly reviews the applications and supporting documents.

Qualified applicants are promptly given a Letter of Acceptance. In certain cases the application may be placed on a waiting list or referred to the respective college for final decision.

Medical Examination

New and transfer students are required to take a medical examination at the University Medical Clinic. This must be done before the registration period as declared in the university calendar.

 

English Placement Test

All new students are required to take an English Placement Test. The results of this test will determine the level of English courses to be taken by each student as a university requirement. Students whose results show noticeable deficiency in English language skills will be required to enroll in remedial non-credit English courses.

Arabic Language Courses

Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST) is currently offering a unique opportunity for all non-native Arabic language speakers and whoever wishes to learn the Arabic language. MUST designed programs for learning the Arabic language. They aim at providing all participants with the Arabic language main skills (communicative listening, speaking, skill and integrated reading and writing.) 

Description

 A  four weeks program ( focuses on speaking the Arabic language)

A six weeks program ( focuses on speaking writing the Arabic language)

In both programs the Arabic language classes will be every day from Saturday till Thursday. The vacations will be in Friday. In   these vacations, accommodation will be in the university residences (every two participants in a room) including two meals (Breakfast and lunch).

All this advantages will be for the participants who will join a four or sex week program.

** In a four week program, every participant will just pay 750$.

** In a six week program, every participant will just pay 1200$.

** In every group of ten, one participant will join MUST program for learn the Arabic language for free.

 

 

 

University Services

Housing

MUST owns and operates two student hostels one for male and the other for female students, located at the 6th of October city, about 6 kilometers off the University campus.

The building capacity is 300 students, double rooms with a separate washroom in each room. Each building has a student restaurant, a reception area, a reading room and a TV/ entertainment area. There is regular transportation to and from the hostel to the University campus and is supplied by the University.Transportation charges are included in the hostel's annual fees.

Health Care Service

The university has a fully equipped clinic with complete drug supply for treatment and the efficient response to emergency situations. The clinic is managed by a senior physician. Service is available on a daily basis, from 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM.

Transportation Services

The University offers transportation services connecting the University to Cairo and its suburbs through a number of chartered buses. Fees for this services are paid at registration.Regular public bus-line services are also available from Cairo to Six October City passing by the University Campus.
