It will give them the assurance that CaseTrust for Education PEOs have put in place proper systems and practices to look after the welfare and interest of international students in Singapore. This is to encourage more international students to consider studying in Singapore.                   

 What is CaseTrust for Education?

CaseTrust for Education is part of the essential tier under Education Excellence Framework.

A PEO that achieves CaseTrust for Education is certified as an organization that possesses the foundation for good quality student welfare practices and standards. The PEO will have the following mechanisms in place:

 Who does it apply to?

From September 2005, all PEO’s that want to enroll international students will need to have CaseTrust for Education status before being able to offer placement for international students.      

 When will it come into effect?           

All PEO’s taking in international students are given until 1 December 2004 a CASE-endorsed Student Protection Scheme (either the CASE-endorsed Student Tuition Fee Account (ESCROW) or the CASE-endorsed Student Tuition Fee Insurance). PEO’s have up to 1st September 2005 to achieve all the requirements of CaseTrust for Education if they wish to continue to enroll new international students.               

 What is a Student Protection Scheme (SPS)?           

The SPS serves to protect the student’s fees in the event a PEO is unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. Furthermore, the SPS protects the student if the PEO fails to pay penalties or return fees to the students arising from judgements made against it by the Singapore courts.      

 What is the Student Tuition Fee Account (ESCROW)?           

Tuition fees paid by the students to the PEO’s will have to be left in the custody of a third party, in this case the CASE-endorsed banks participating in the Student Tuition Fee Account (ESCROW) scheme. When specified conditions for its release have been met, the banks will disburse the tuition fees on a regular basis to the PEO.    

 Does KWAP have a SPS?      

 Yes. KnowledgeWindow has in place a SPS in the form of a Student Tuition Fee Account (ESCROW) scheme with the HongKong Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) on the 9th September 2004.     

 How is the payment structure for SPS scheme like? 

International students will pay the tuition fees to HSBC either by telegraphic transfer, bank draft, cheques or cashier’s order. No NETS or cash payments are allowed. Non-tuition fees and GST charges will be paid to the PEO in full before the commencement of the course.

The payments for the tuition fees are either paid in full or monthly over term durations of 6 months or 10 months depending on the course enrolled and its duration. Each payment will be submitted with a payment voucher which is provided by the Bank or the PEO. Payment records by the student can be assessed online through the PEO at HSBCNet.

Other Student Pass charges such as the Security Deposit and the Student Pass processing fees are not included in the Tuition Fee nor the Non-Tuition fee charged by the PEO.      

What is needed to process the Student Pass VISA?   

The Student ESCROW confirmation form must be completed in order to get the Bank Acknowledgement of Student ESCROW confirmation letter which is required by the Immigration of Checkpoint Authority of Singapore (ICA) to process the Student Pass.

About Legenda Group of Colleges

Legenda Group of Colleges is one of the largest Private Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia. Currently there are four colleges under the group. The group started its operations with the establishment of Kolej Legenda and along the years three more colleges joined the group. The college commenced operations by offering a range of franchised course from Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM) currently known as Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM) subsequently with a stable of franchised course from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Having established a range of courses with UITM and UTM, Kolej Legenda proceeded to establish links with new partners and new courses were added into its stable. In 2001 Kolej Legenda signed an agreement with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) offering computer science and information technology courses and subsequently in 2002 Kolej Legenda was approved to conduct a range of courses from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Over the years the college has provided education to more than 10,000 students in the country and the region.

Currently the operations of the Group of Colleges are based in a full-fledged 63-Hectare (159-acre) campus in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan. The campus facilities include more than 4,300 apartments with an overall capacity of more than 25,000 students at any one time.

The campus is fully residential and complete institution of higher learning with facilities that enable students to have a very conducive learning and self-development experience. Parts of these facilities include the following ;

  Location

	RIMA College Kuala Lumpur is located along Jalan Ampang in the heart of metropolitan Kuala Lumpur which is the capital city of Malaysia. RIMA College overlooks Malaysia's pride and joy - the Kuala Lumpur Tower and the Petronas Twin Tower.
	The College is within easy reach from Kuala Lumpur main bus, train and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) terminals. It takes only 15 minutes from the Central Pudu Station and five minutes from the Dang Wangi LRT station. RIMA College Kuala Lumpur being in the heart of the city is surrounded by a blend of enchanting modern and old architectural views. It is also located in the northern part of the world-renowned Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) area and is in the vicinity of the major MSC-designated cybercities.

 The Kuala Lumpur Railway is the main station and is famous for its Moorish architecture. From the railway station we come to the famous Merdeka Square or the Dataran Merdeka as it commonly known as. This is the venue for all major festivals held in the country including the National Day Celebrations. Standing tall in the middle of the square is a square is 325 foot high flag pole which is reputed to be the highest in the world. Sultan Abdul Samad Building is another old building and is also the photographed landmarks. It has a 133 foot clock tower with gleaming copper domes and it houses the High Court and the Supreme Court.

Computer Centre The Computer Centre is equipped with 3 computer lab and one computer lounge with a diverse range of fully-networked computing hardware ranging from thin-clients to full-featured Pentium III multimedia workstations supported by Itanium server. On the software front, students have access to various mainstream application packages and software development tools under Windows and Unix-based computing environments. Broadband Internet Access  Broadband Internet access is also available from the Computer Centre.

Fitness Centre Keep fit while you studying at Rima College. Rima also provide gymnasium to do exercise. Student who require to use the facilities can refer to the counsellor.

Students Services

Student Counselling   Rima College Kuala Lumpur provide counseling assistance at respective Totally Assisted Student Centre. The centre provides services such as career-interest assessment of students, recommending career paths, creating study plans and academic counseling. Thus, students uncertain over their career path may seek guidance from our experienced counselors who will help them discover their interests and choose the most appropriate major.

Student Placement Services

RIMA's Placement Services main mission is to facilitate the smooth transfer of its students to complete their studies in America, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. The University Placement Services Centre is well stocked with the latest brochures, university catalogues, application forms and video documentaries on universities abroad. The unit is vital in providing information and assistance to students. Services provided include helping students to choose and apply for appropriate universities to obtaining a visa, accommodation and predeparture orientation.

International Students Services International Student Department support all International Student matters from bringing new student from airport to Rima College , preparing their visa and etc. All problem regarding international student should refer to this department.

Housing

The accommodation services involve homestay. Based on your budget, the college facilitates the accommodation process. We strongly recommend this as students learn to live with families and this facilitates a lot of cultural adjustments living in Kuala Lumpur. The cost of accommodation can range from a minimum of RM 200 or RM 300 for a room OR RM 1500 to RM 1800 for a fully furnished air conditioned apartment.

The full-time AUDP runs on an academic semester system consisting of Spring (January), Summer (April) and Fall (August). Each semester is approximately 16 weeks in duration. Students are required to register for a minimum of four or a maximum of five courses every semester.

Courses are assigned credit hours. Each credit is taken to mean one hour of lecture or two hours of laboratory per week for the duration of the semester. On average most courses are assigned three (3) credit hours.

The part-time (Executive American University Degree Program) runs on an eight-week session system. Students can register up to maximum of three subjects. Each subject will typically have four and a half hours of lecturer contact per week.

Entry Requirements :Minimum of 5 credits in the SPM/UEC Examinations, or 5 'O' Level Passes.

Students without the above qualifications may be considered, on a probationary basis.

The RIMA School of Engineering grew out of RIMA's American University Degree Programme. Universities across America were welcoming students from RIMA into their Engineering Degree Programmes based on the credits they earned in Malaysia. Microcomputer System Engineering Microcomputer System Engineering have the skills necessary to succeed in a field that has exploded over the last decade, creating a huge employment demand. The designs of the systems from mobile phones to racing-car engine controllers requires graduates with a knowledge of microcomputers and micro-controllers, the system running on them and the techniques needed to integrate them with the systems they control.            Electronics and Electrical Engineering The mainstream Electronics and Electrical Engineering course is broadly based so that the graduate engineer is able to deal with all aspects of the subjects from power engineering to micro-electronics and from radar installations to digital systems.   Electrical  and Software Engineering Graduates are pervasive in today's organizations, industry systems and consumer products. Successful engineers must have a deep understanding in both hardware and software, to lead the teams that design and build complete computerised systems. This degree, taught jointly with the Department of Computer Science, aims to produce such engineers.

Advances in computing technology and the increase bandwidth of communications systems are currently revolutionising all aspect of our lives both in home and industry. Graduates in Audio and Video Engineering have combination of skills in hardware and software which allow them to drive this revolution forward.

This Diploma Programme was designed in collaboration with the University of Glasgow. It covers the first two years of the University of Glasgow's Bachelor's in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (Hons.) programme. Students will be exposed to the basics of E&E Engineering and develop a firm foundation for their future success in this field.

The uniqueness of this Diploma programme is that students can choose to graduate with a RIMA's Diploma in Electronics and Electrical Engineering or opt to transfer to the University of Glasgow's to complete their Bachelor's in Electronics and Electrical Engineering (Hons.) programme in just two years. RIMA students with exceptional diploma results may opt to complete a 3-year Master's programme at the University of Glasgow.

RIMA Diploma holders also have the flexibility to complete their engineering degree in RIMA's other partner universities in the US, UK or Austrlia. The choice is yours. Entry Requirements

RIMA'S Diploma in Biomedical Science is an undergraduate programme that prepares you for the rigorous requirements of the University of East London - one of UK's top Bioscience schools. It is designed to give students a broad understanding of the integrated and multidisciplinary nature of biomedical science. It integrates a wide range of medical-related subjects that investigates the biological basis of diseases, combining the basic knowledge of biology with the specialized knowledge of disease processes.

Early in the programme, you will learn about the normal functions of the human body. This will prepare you for the more specialized medical and pathological aspects related to human disease. At the end of the course, you will be able to appreciate the processes involved in medical biotechnology, medical biochemistry, pharmacology, forensic science, toxicology, biochemistry and biomedical science.

The RIMA Diploma in Hotel, Travel & Tourism Management The RIMA Diploma in Hotel, Travel & Tourism Management is designed to provide the requisite knowledge and competencies required by those who have chosen to work in the hotel service industry. This programme is designed by RIMA College and validated by several key universities in the US, UK and Australia. With this Diploma, students can obtain their Degree with credits transferred from RIMA College.

This programme is designed to develop students‚ skills in the core computer sciences. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills to give students a well-rounded approach to their field. It also encourages students‚ ability to think independently and create new ideas.

During the course, students will develop their skills in information management, understanding algorithms, and modeling techniques for problem solving.
