LOCATION

Coventry University is a city centre campus in Coventry, West Midlands (about 25 minutes from Birmingham) and  run undergraduate and postgraduate courses through our 3 Faculties and 2 Schools. The University comprises of the Faculties of Business, Environment and Society; Engineering and Computing; and Health and Life Sciences; and of the School of Art and Design and the School of Lifelong Learning. It  offer a huge variety of courses including Aerospace Systems Engineering, Automotive Design, Business, Computer Science, Disaster Management, Environmental Management, Finance, Law, Marketing, MBA, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Tourism Management. Top-up courses are available in some disciplines and advanced entry into year 2 is possible and considered on an individual basis. We also cater for students requiring Foundation and pre-masters courses.  

We have a student population of roughly 20,000 with approximately 2700 international students from over 100 countries. Coventry University International Scholarship Programme

A scholarship is a financial reward to help support you while you are studying.

There is no separate scholarship application process: all applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country will automatically be considered for a merit scholarship at the point of application.

Scholarships are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The number of scholarships available on each scheme is limited so students are encouraged to apply for their course early.

If you are offered a merit scholarship then you must confirm your acceptance by paying the required deposit within four weeks from the date issued on the scholarship offer letter.

Allocation of Scholarships

Scholarships are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The number of scholarships available on each scheme is limited so students are encouraged to apply for their course early.

The maximum amount any international student can claim is £1,500:

·                     An international student can combine a merit award (£1,000) with either an 'Early Payment' or 'Alumni' discount (£500) but not both.

·                     An international student can combine an 'Early Payment' and 'Alumni' discount to a maximum of £1,000, but not in conjunction with a merit award.

Successful applicants will be notified by the International Office. The University will not contact unsuccessful candidates.

Terms and conditions

We may make you an offer of a scholarship conditional, on your outstanding academic results. Should you fail to meet this specified criteria, we may still make you the offer of a place but not a scholarship.

If you are offered a merit scholarship then you must confirm your acceptance by paying the required deposit within four weeks from the date issued on the scholarship offer letter.

This deposit is only refundable in the limited cases listed below:

·                     You fail to meet the academic conditions stipulated in your conditional offer

·                     You fail to obtain a visa (we will refund on receiving a copy of the visa refusal notice)

·                     Your chosen programme of study is withdrawn and the University is unable to provide a replacement programme of study

Merit Scholarship scheme:

Merit Scholarship scheme: £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.

·                     Available to all international students applying for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University in 2010/11.

·                     Scholarships are allocated on the basis of academic merit. (Postgraduate applicants must hold 2.1 or equivalent, Undergraduate applicants must hold A-levels equivalent at grades BBC).

·                     There is no separate scholarship application process: all applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country will automatically be considered for a merit award. You will not have to do anything. If you are successful, you will be notified in due course by the International Office.

Early Payment Discount

Early Payment Discount: £500. This discount is available for all years of study.

·                     Available to all full-time international students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University in 2010/11.  (Does not apply to part-time students.)

·                     Students must pay full fees in advance of enrolment to qualify for this discount.

Alumni Discount

Alumni Discount: £500

·                     Available to all existing Coventry University international, EU and UK students progressing to full-time postgraduate programmes 2010/11.

·                     This award is available automatically to all existing Coventry University students progressing to full-time postgraduate programmes, upon accepting an offer from the University

Research Scholarship scheme

·                     Available to all international students applying for postgraduate research programmes at Coventry University. These awards are aligned to our Applied Research Centres and Applied Research Groups.

Commonwealth Scholarship scheme

Coventry University is supporting the Commonwealth Scholarships to Developed countries awards 2010. The Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC)  offers opportunities to Commonwealth citizens to study in the UK, and identifies UK citizens to study overseas, as part of the UK's contribution to the international Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan.

These Scholarships apply to candidates from Australia, Brunei, Canada, Cyprus, Malta, New Zealand, Singapore and the Bahamas.

Coventry University London Campus (CULC) Top-up programmes allow entry to the final year of a BA degree programme for students from outside the UK.

Students undertake in-depth study of particular areas of business interest dependant on previous study and knowledge, and help to prepare them for a career in international business and management.

The BA (Hons) undergraduate top-up one year courses have been designed with specific focus on business in an international context and will provide students with the opportunity develop a sound knowledge of business issues and trends in the international context, applying theory to practice where appropriate.

Early Payment and Full Payment scholarships

Early Payment scholarships

Students that pay their 33% tuition fee deposit by Friday 29 October, 2010 will receive a £750 scholarship off the full tuition fee. Students that pay their 33% tuition fee deposit by Friday 3rd December will receive a £500 scholarship off the full tuition fee.

Please note that this is not available to students who receive a country scholarship. 

Full Payment scholarships

Students that pay their tuition fees in full before or at enrolment will be offered a £500 full payment scholarship, which can be combined with the above Early Payment scholarship should the required deposit be received by the dates above.
 
Students who pay their 33% tuition fee deposit by Friday 29th October and their tuition fees in full before or at enrolment will receive a total scholarship of £1250.

Students who pay their 33% tuition fee deposit by Friday 3rd December and their tuition fees in full before or at enrolment will receive a total scholarship of £1000.

Please note that students who receive a country scholarship are not eligible for an Early Payment or Full Payment Scholarship.

Country scholarships

Coventry University London Campus is offering scholarships of  £1500 to a limited number of students from different countries on a merit basis.

Eligibility for the country scholarships is dependent upon applicants paying a deposit of 33% of their tuition fees by Friday, 3 December 2010. 

Term Dates and Academic Calendar 2010/2011/2012

The academic year is split into four terms or quadmesters. Each quadmester is 10 weeks, followed by a short break. This offers you the opportunity to start your programmes at a time to suit you and allows you to complete your programme within the minimum duration possible.
