Famous for its welcoming, fun-loving character, Newcastle is a great place to be a student. The city was founded in Roman times under the name Pons Aelius. Newcastle was the country's fourth largest print centre; is famed for its rich and diverse industrial heritage and is known for its expertise in glass production, shipbuilding and heavy engineering. Newcastle University is one of Britain’s leading academic institutions, with a reputation that stretches back to the School of Medicine and Surgery, established in Newcastle in 1834. The University is situated in the centre of the historic City of Newcastle upon Tyne, within easy reach of the beautiful countryside and coast of Northumberland in the North East of England. In the city, ancient buildings stand side by side with award-winning modern structures such as the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Over 18,000 full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students are currently studying at the University, and this includes students from over 100 different countries.

The University has invested in a £5.5million state-of-the-art sports facility, helping to maintain its place as one of the top universities for sport in the country.

INTO Newcastle University

INTO Newcastle University is part of a unique, university-based initiative for international students, offering new and higher quality standards of preparation for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK. The INTO Centre provides quality-assured courses leading to guaranteed university placement (upon successful completion) at Newcastle University and other top UK universities. Students will need to achieve the specified grades for guaranteed entry to their chosen degree programme.

It offer Foundation and Pre-Master’s academic programmes, as well as courses in Academic, Pre-sessional and Essential English plus an English Language Summer School and Study Abroad with English.
