Entry requirements for students from Sri Lanka
High entrance requirements for our degree programmes at Sheffield reflect the quality of the University.All applicants are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or TOEFL. The minimum score that is accepted for entry is IELTS 6 or TOEFL Paper Based 550 or TOEFL Computer Based 213. Some departments may require a higher score.IGCSE/GCSE English Grade C or Sri Lanka GCE O Level English Credit or above are also accepted in place of IELTS or TOEFL.
For Entry to Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng
A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to
undergraduate bachelor degree programmes.
Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels or 2 A levels + 2 AS levels will be
considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes or
International Baccalaureate Applicants with a minimum of 28 points will be
considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.

Our subject areas include: Foundation Programmes The Foundation programme is a pre-university course designed to bridge the gap for international students between secondary school and undergraduate studies. The programme gives international students a level of academic preparation comparable to UK A-Levels and ensures that students meet the minimum English language requirement for entry to their chosen undergraduate degree programme. In some circumstances, students may be able to enrol on the Foundation programme in order to change their specialist subject. The programme combines academic study, intensive English language preparation, study skills and a cultural orientation.
