An F1 student visa
is needed if you are interested in studying in the U.S. at an accredited
college or university.
To obtain the
necessary visa, you must submit a DS-156 Form, as well as an I-20 (for an F1)
or a DS-2019 (for a J1), to the United States embassy or consulate in your
country of citizenship or permanent residency.
For visa

expected from the family, various sponsoring agencies from which the student
may have secured assistance (such as churches, corporations or service organizations
which might agree to provide limited scholarship aid), and any funding which
FSC will provide in the way of scholarships or grants. In order to list
those funds and issue an I-20, we need to have on hand a bank letter (on

Our

they qualify, and all such funds will be listed on the I-20 in the appropriate
space. The I-20 is issued once the student has been accepted for

DEGREE COMBINATIONS
Any
student pursuing a four-year degree may elect to pursue an Associate of Science

of concentration. Such diversity of effort not only broadens one's horizon, but
offers flexibility among alternate employment opportunities in today's
fluctuating business environment.
A
student wishing to earn a second bachelor's degree in another concentration
would complete 120 credit hours toward the B.S. degree in the first area, then

average for all study completed is 3.50 or higher.
Baccalaureate
students who have earned 60 hours at Webber International University may
receive the following designed honors:
Accounting
Computer Information Systems Management
This
major is designed to prepare the graduate with skills in information systems
and management for an entry-level position that could lead to a career in a
variety of IS positions. The student will develop skills with typical office
software packages, basic networking and operating systems, relational database
design and programming, basic web design, structured programming using one or
more high-level programming languages, systems analysis and design, team
management, and a fundamental knowledge of the organizational structure.
Courses in the program are designed around realistic business problems and
hands-on experience with both hardware and software. As the graduate expands
his/her knowledge and skills with specific software and systems, and develops
important experience; career opportunities widens into positions, such as
systems/network administrator, programmer, systems designer, systems analyst,
systems engineer, or MIS manager
Corporate Communications
Today’s business
environment relies heavily on the production, presentation and
management of information. The modern corporate communication professional
writes news
releases, designs brochures, edits material created earlier, and updates the
organization’s web
page all from a desktop computer. The Corporate Communication program, leading
to the B.S.
degree, prepares students for positions in government, private industry, and
the not-for-profit
sector as specialists in the visual and verbal presentation of information. The
required courses in this interdisciplinary program focus on how communication
is used in business to promote
products and services motivate employees and explain corporate decisions to
stakeholders. The elective courses enable students to pursue an area of
interest or specialization--particularly in the areas of media relations or
employee motivation and training.
Finance
This program is
designed to prepare the graduate as a financial analyst. The student will
develop an understanding of the theory of finance and the interaction of
private and public sector finance as they relate to the overall economy. The
student will develop a theoretical as well as a practical understanding of the
various areas in the field of finance: banking, investments, financial
institutions, insurance, real estate, portfolio management, and general
financial management
Hospitality & Tourism Management
The
graduate of Webber International University's Hospitality Business Management
program will have the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective manager in
the hospitality industry. The program is designed to give the student both
theory and practice in the most relevant aspects of Hospitality Business
Management. The graduate will have learned how to deal with human and material
resources, how to face challenges in a positive and productive manner, and how
to direct a team effort in the delivery of superior service.
Management
The program's inherent flexibility promotes the skills to manage
in a variety of business and industry positions. The carefully planned courses
provide the foundation for making intelligent business decisions.
Entrepreneurial education is an essential component of the Management Program.
Emphasis is placed on: creating and revising strategic plans; processes leading
to planned outcomes; budgets and controls; personnel issues and ethics in
business. These skills are as applicable to small business as they are to
medium and large business enterprises.
Marketing
Marketing
is a dynamic field and includes product development and planning, pricing,
distribution and promotion. Marketing operations are carried out by all
business organizations offering a product or service. The program is designed
to give students an overview of the variety of marketing activities and
functions, and to assist them in acquiring the necessary skills that will
enable them to meet the many challenges Marketing poses.
Pre-Law
The Pre-Law major at
Webber International University gives the student the best of both approaches
to the preparation for law school. The business core courses prepare the
student for the commercial and corporate aspects of the practice of law and the
courses that compose the pre-law major represent the sociological and political
aspects that lead to the development of the current legal environment. Students
selecting this major should strongly consider elective courses that reinforce
analytical and critical thinking and problem solving. The Webber International
University curriculum is especially appropriate for students pursuing a career
in law because of the concentration of writing and oral communications skills
cultivated in the general education courses and the business core courses.
Students may also select a minor in another area of business such as accounting
or finance. These areas comprise a significant portion of the preparation for
law school and the practice of law as a profession.
Security Management
The Security
Management major is designed for those students who aspire to have a leadership
role – in either the public or private sector – in the realms of security.
Consequently, the degree is designed to provide students with the fundamentals
they need to be managers in general coupled with specific coursework in crime,
justice, investigation, and security. As a cohesive course of study providing a
broad base of management knowledge and a concentration of industry specific
knowledge, the program of study is intended to provide students, whether in
private or governmental entities, with the skills they need to manage security
related departments and functions
Sport Management
The sport industry is truly international. Demand
for the leaders needed to maintain its success is growing rapidly. The Sport
Management program is designed to provide such leaders. Building on a solid
business core, the student then explores the unique aspects of such areas as
sports promotion, sports information and media, and facilities and event
management.
General Business Studies
The Bachelor of
Science in General Business Studies is a program that recognizes the
ever-changing needs in the world today. The program offers flexibility for
students who have career goals that require a business background but do not
require a specific major field. The program is structured to permit the
transfer of up to 39 non-business related credits for students who have earned
credit in another area but have recognized the need for a business foundation
in their chosen field of employment. It also provides flexibility for the
student to select a large number of electives within the business field to
tailor the educational program to the student’s life goals. The General Business
Studies course work is largely managerial and entrepreneurial in scope. The

In some
countries, the student is issued only one original copy of the transcript or

of the original that bears the seal of a public official or the Director
(Headmaster) of the school for admission consideration. When the student
arrives at Webber International, the original documents will be photocopied and
certified by a Notary Public. The certified copies will be maintained in
the student’s academic record and the originals will be returned to the
student.

universities must have their transcripts evaluated by a professional
evaluation service. The Webber International University faculty will
make the final decision regarding transfer credit into the university degree

Employment
When you
apply for an F-1 visa, you must prove that you have full financial support. The
law assumes that you will not be employed in the U.S. and therefore will not
accept employment that could be filled by a U.S. worker or student. There are
some exceptions to this policy provided that full-time enrollment during the
year is maintained and the appropriate permission is obtained, but you should
always check with a DSO before accepting employment, especially if it is off
campus. Some types of acceptable employment are given below:
On-Campus
Employment: If you are maintaining your student status, you may take a
part-time job (20 hours or less per week) on campus as long as it does not
interfere with maintaining full-time enrollment. If you do not have a U.S.
social security card, you will need to request one. Contact the Student Development
Office for assistance. F-1 students do not need work permission from the INS to
work on campus or to receive a graduate assistantship, but the Student
Development Office must certify work eligibility.
Off-Campus
Employment (for Economic Necessity): International students may qualify for
off-campus economic necessity employment only with the express authorization of
INS. Authorization is very difficult to obtain and will be granted only under
the following conditions:
·
Unforeseen changes in financial conditions occur after beginning the program of
study, which are beyond the student’s control and make employment necessary for
the student's support.
·
Acceptance of employment will not interfere with the student’s ability to
maintain a full course of study.
·
Employment will not exceed 20 hours per week while school is in session.
In order
to apply for such permission, the student must be in good academic standing and
carrying the required full course of study. F-1 students who have been in the
U.S. for less than one academic year are prohibited from working off campus.
See a DSO for further details.
Practical
Training: The information on Practical Training is complicated and subject to
change at any time. Please check with a DSO for any updated regulations and
additional information. In order to qualify for practical training the
following criteria must be met:
· A student must have been in F-1 status for at least nine months before any
practical training may be authorized.
· A
student must be registered full-time in the preceding semesters and must be
IN-STATUS with INS.
· The
practical training employment is authorized only in the student's field of
major study.
Curricular
Practical Training: If you register for a paid internship off campus, there
are, as with any off-campus employment, INS procedures to follow. Contact the
Student Development Office for assistance. Unpaid internships do not require
INS paperwork.

Master Programs
Trine University is proud to add the Master of Engineering degree to the
offerings of the Allen School of Engineering and Technology. This program
offers an array of possibilities for young engineers and returning graduates
alike: new degrees in five years, a better salary, or a promotion.
Master of Engineering
The rapid pace of technological advancement has resulted in a demand for
engineers with advanced training. Engineers with the skills necessary to lead
the design of a complex system are highly sought by industry. Regional
manufacturers regularly comment that new engineers “lack the applied experience
that allows them to take their knowledge from the classroom confidently into
the workplace,” and that “more design skills will be required.”
Explore.
By emphasizing advanced design skills rather than research, the Master
of Engineering program addresses the needs’ of industry leaders. The Master of
Engineering is a design-based, engineering practice-oriented degree. This fits
our mission of educating quality, work-ready engineers. Trine has built its
reputation on the success of its graduates in engineering practice; the Master
of Engineering degree is designed to further that success.
Experience.
A proposal to require one year of education beyond the bachelor’s degree
for registration as a Professional Engineer is now being considered in many
states. With its emphasis on design and practice, the Master of Engineering
degree will give you an excellent base for professional registration.
Excel.
Master of Science with a major in Criminal Justice
is an accelerated degree program that provides
education for both pre- and mid-career individuals serving their communities as
law enforcement, corrections, court practitioners or with private agencies that
deliver services in the justice arena. The curriculum is designed to
prepare these professionals to assume key leadership roles within the justice
system or the private sector. This Master program is available at our Fort
Wayne location.
